Grilled Cabernet-Marinated Tri-Tip Steak

A great marinade that makes for a really juicy steak.


1 cup Cabernet Sauvignon
1/4 cup sherry
2 tbsp. chile oil
2 tbsp. soy sauce
2 tbsp. sugar
2 bunches green onions, thinly sliced
1/2 bunch cilantro, chopped
5 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp. minced fresh ginger
4 lb. tri-tip steak


Combine wine sherry, chile oil, soy sauce and sugar in a medium shallow bowl or glass baking dish. Add green onions, cilantro, garlic and ginger. Mix well. Add steak and marinate at least 2 hours, refrigerated.

Heat grill to medium-high heat. Wipe the steak dry with a paper towel and place on the grill. Cook until internal temperature reaches 120 degrees F, 15 to 20 minutes, turning once.
